Creative Expression & The Fear Of Spontaneity

Creativity + Expression

:::::::

Writing is one form that I choose to express myself through.

One of the greatest feelings in the world is matching words to the energy and insight that I know is swirling around me.

How about you?

Is there a piece of writing or art that you know you were in tune with? It feels great when you’re in tune like that, but what about when the well runs dry, when you feel like you can’t drum up inspiration if your life depended on it, or when you’re afraid to just let things unfold?

I want to let you in on a secret.

I felt that way this morning (unmotivated and uninspired), but if there’s one thing I know, it’s that the muse is always there. I had a certain structure and time that I wanted to follow, but my creative spirit just wanted to flow.

Not out of obligation, or deadlines, or the “rules of the game”, but out of the pure joy of watching something come from nothing.

That’s where the feelings of uninspired and unmotivated came from. My soul and I had two different ideas of how I should have been doing things this morning. My soul and I were not flowing on the same frequency.

It wasn't until I decided to relax and allow, that the actual inspiration for this post came through.

Your soul needs the freedom to express itself (without the rules) sometimes. (Tweet This)

Your creative force wants you to be open and at ease with receiving the insight that it has for you.

That scares the hell out of you though - doesn't it?

To think that you don’t have to actually plan things step by step.

To think that you don’t have to have everything figured out.

Just the idea of trusting, letting go, and receiving terrifies us. We can’t process the thought that something higher, broader, and wiser actually has everything under control.

We want to know steps 1,2,3, etc. We want to know when and how it’s going to happen. We want to know who’s involved, and how we can make things work out perfectly.

The only problem with that is...

Your soul knows you don't need any of that to create.

Our soul also knows that it’s our rigidness and perfectionism that boxes us in. It knows that our lack of trust in spontaneity and in the creative force is exactly what stifles us sometimes.

Your soul cares about the fluidity of the current of inspiration and it also cares about you feeling the pure joy of bringing something from the heavens - down to earth.

So I am here, not only to relay this message from the creative core, but to also put into practice the one thing that my soul wants me to focus on.

TRUST

Trust in my higher self, trust in my ability, trust in my creative core & and in the process of life in general.

The fact that you're here reading this means...

It’s calling you to focus there as well.

It's not always easy, but you can practice it (little by little).

Set an intention, and without having to know all the steps to the final destination, relax & receive the inspiration that your soul has stored for you. It’s there, and it’s waiting for the open space to flood your mind and heart with the new.

Give your creative expression room to work through you.

Don’t block its flow with rigid thoughts of how things should be, and don’t weigh yourself down by fearing how it will unfold.

Give it room to surprise you, and trust that whatever you create will turn out better than you imagine.

Live Well & Keep Creating!
