Hello Creator ~ I’m so glad you’re here.

What a whirlwind of life that’s moved through these last few years. Have you ever lived through a time where the need for creativity was more dominant than now?

We’re being asked to re-imagine and re-invent almost every aspect of life.

The largeness of that feeling can be overwhelming at times. Yes, creativity is where it’s at, but with the way life has been shaken up, it may leave you feeling like - am I enough for this space? Or, will I ever create again?

We all feel it, but I’m here to reassure you That - creativity is still alive and well.

  • Your creative genius is still there.

  • Your brilliant ideas are still there.

  • And believe it or not, they are more potent than ever.

You’re probably more clear now (than ever before) about what you want and what you don’t want.

There is magic in that clarity.

So, let’s get you re-inspired. I believe you’re a huge conduit for a lot of the new ideas/inspiration that wants to be birthed at this time.

Let’s explore these 11 Simple Ways To Tap Into Your Creative Well.

1. Tune Into Your Imagination

Your imagination is where your creative spirit can roam free. There is no “no” in this space. Take a few minutes a day to just sit with your imagination. Let it roam and bring up images that inspire you. Be sure to make a note of anything that you see or experience that you may want to expand on later.

2. Write Down Your Ideas

If you’re willing, get yourself a small notebook to jot down your new ideas. No idea is unimportant. It’s all fuel for creativity. Carrying the small notebook around, will help you remember some of the things that sparked your attention and may inspire new creations later on down the road. So write down your ideas.

3. Get Messy & Abstract

It doesn’t matter what medium you use to create, there comes a time when you may need to get a little messy or a little abstract.

  • If you’re a painter try some mediums you haven’t used yet or make a mosaic instead of painting.

  • If you’re a writer, write about a topic you haven’t touched on yet or write about something silly.

Get outside of your comfort zone and get messy & abstract. You don’t have to share it with anyone, just do it to shake loose some of the rigid structures that may be stopping your new creative impulses. It will help open your mind to seeing creativity in new ways.

4. Journal

This is a simple tip that a lot of people overlook. Start to journal and get to know your creative spirit. What’s there? What wants to be created? What wants to come alive through you? To help guide your next writing/journaling session here are 14 Gentle Inquiries and Day 6 of Self-Discovery Journaling to help you tap into your creative well through journaling.

5. Explore New Topics Of Interest

I cannot tell you how many times I had a hunch to explore a new topic (something completely unrelated to what I was trying to create) and it ended up inspiring the very work I was getting ready to start. Your creative core is trying to make some new connections. That way, you’ll be able to receive the impulses it’s trying to send you.

Recently, I’ve been exploring mind mapping. Take a look at the diagram I created below. Mind mapping is an awesome way to organize your creative ideas. Here’s a quick YouTube video explaining what mind mapping is (if this topic sparks your interest).

6. Meditate

Meditation is also overlooked when it comes to tapping the creative well. When you meditate, you create space to hear what’s already there. Your creative ideas are already there. The mind is busy, the critic is saying check “this thing” and “that thing” off of your to-do-list, but the core has gathered the knowledge and knows ~ all you have to do is flow it.

When you get still, you access what’s already there for you and then you’re inspired to let it flow from you. Meditation helps create unobstructed pathways for that flow.

If the idea of quieting the mind to tap the creative well is not resonating and you’d like a guided meditation. Download the “My Heart’s Here My Passion’s Here ~ Now What?” track (below) that I co-created with my spirit guides. It’s gentle, full of inspiration, and right on time.

7.  Snap Some Pictures

Have you ever been out in nature and seen something that you were inspired by? The truth is, inspiration is all around you. All day ~ every day. Start taking some photos of the stuff that inspires you. Get into the feeling place of what it feels like when you see something that lights you up. That way, when your creative well wants to inspire you, you’re ready to allow its inspiration.

8.  Ask For Inspiration

One of the best ways I know to tap the creative well is to ask for its help. Ask your creative well to show you some new ideas. Ask your creative well to make it clear and to send you some aha moments or some new inspiring images.

It will! Go straight to the source and just ask.

9.  Pay Attention To What You’re Paying Attention To

Your attention is one of your strongest indicators of where you would like to create next. Do you find yourself daydreaming about textiles for your new home? Or do you find yourself noticing the poetry in nature? Pay attention to what you’re paying attention to. It may be directing you to an area you would like to create in.

10.  Drive A Different Route

Sometimes, in order to tap into your creative well, you’ll need to give your mind a break & take a different path. Take a road you haven’t traveled before. Stop at a coffee shop in your town you haven’t visited. New places, new routes, and new modes of transportation can inspire new connections, new thoughts, and new insights. It’s amazing how interconnected your inner and outer world is and how they inspire each other. Try it and take note of the changes.

11.  Notice What You Haven’t Seen

There are so many things that you haven’t noticed in your current surroundings. Ask life to show you ~ what’s there that you haven’t seen. Pay attention. There are so many beautiful inspiring things around that you may not even be noticing. When you drive around town, look left if you’re always looking right. You’ll be surprised how much you haven’t noticed. Ask life to show you something inspiring that you may not have noticed before. This also helps you experience creative hunches in ways that you never have before ~ so have fun with it!

Well There You Have It ~ 11 Simple Ways To Tap Into Your Creative Well

Each step/tip is simple. Doable. Sometimes, the answer is right there - you just don’t think it’s worth doing.

I’m here to reassure you ~ if you’re here, there’s something your creative core wants you to explore or try. Trust that calling. Resistance may show up, but remember what you’re working in harmony with.

Ask for inspiration and follow the call. You’ll see a change and may even be inspired to your next creative idea. It’s so worth it.

Live Well & Keep Creating!
